Professional Profile: Dr. Yong-Hui Li is a Professor and Director of the Institute of Building Technology and Science at the School of Architecture, Southeast University. He holds several prestigious academic leadership roles, including Board Member of the International Association of Building Physics (IABP), Associate Editor of the Journal of Building Physics, and Secretary-General of the Professional Committee on Preventive Conservation of Architectural Heritage, China Association for Conservation Technology of Cultural Heritage (CACTCH). He is a distinguished scholar supported by the Jiangsu Provincial “333 High-Level Talent Program” and serves as Chief Scientist leading the National Social Science Fund “Rare & Endangered Knowledge” Research Team.
Research & Publications: As Principal Investigator, Dr. Li has led 13 national and provincial key research projects, including 2 projects under the National Key R&D Program and 4 grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He has authored or co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in high-impact publications such as Building and Environment and PNAS, and owns over 40 patents and software copyrights. His research outcomes have been widely applied in world-renowned heritage sites.
Engineering Practice & Impact: Committed to translating theoretical research into engineering practice, Dr. Li has led or supervised over 80 heritage conservation and design projects across 13 World Heritage Sites, including the Mogao Grottoes, the Forbidden City, Dazu Rock Carvings, and the Ming Tombs. He has developed a systematic framework forheritage risk assessmentthat has been adopted for the safety evaluations of more than 190 national and provincial key heritage sites, providing a rigorous scientific basis for heritage management and conservation decision-making at the national level.
