从2024年“设计结合自然”（Design with Nature）到2025年“创新性乡域景观”（Innovative Rural-scape），东南大学-宾夕法尼亚大学国际暑期学校系列活动相继举办，引领中美青年在城市、建筑和景观领域的高水平专业交流。今年两校再度携手，于5月20日至6月3日共同举办主题为“全球物联：在分布式流动网络中演进的城乡社区”（Global Wholesale: Evolving Rural-urban Community In A Distributed Network of Flows）暑期学校及学术研讨会，开启一场对“世界超市”的深度探访。

From "Design with Nature" in 2024 to "Innovative Rural-scape" in 2025, the Southeast University-University of Pennsylvania International Summer School series has been successively held, leading high-level professional exchanges between Chinese and American youth in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and landscape design. This year, the two universities are joining hands once again to co-host the summer school and academic symposium themed "Global Wholesale: Evolving Rural-urban Community In A Distributed Network of Flows" from May 20 to June 3, embarking on an in-depth exploration of the "World Supermarket".

01    课程安排

COURSE SCHEDULE

义本次暑期学校以义乌为核心田野现场，围绕“全球物联”这一核心命题，通过国际联合教学、在地调研、空间测绘、设计介入与策展实践等多种形式，旨在达成以下三个维度的教学目标：

（1）观察、记录、追踪并理解全球批发贸易的空间逻辑

（2）基于分布式流动城乡网络的理论框架，与全球化贸易空间现象进行实证对话

（3）探索面向未来的后全球化时代贸易空间转型

Taking Yiwu as the fieldwork site and centering on the core theme of ‘Global Wholesale’, this summer school adopts multiple pedagogical approaches including international collaborative teaching, on site investigation, spatial mapping, design intervention, and curatorial practice. It aims to achieve the following teaching objectives across three dimensions:

（1）Observe, document, trace, and understand the spatial logic of global wholesale

（2）Engage in empirical dialogue with the phenomena of globalized trade spaces, grounded in the theoretical framework of a distributed network of flows

（3）Explore the future transformation of trade spaces in the post globalization era.

上海| 都市商业景观考察研究

上海段教学研习围绕传统商业街区、现代商业地标、新旧融合商业空间三个核心议题展开，选取豫园 - 城隍庙片区、南京（西）路商业街区、新天地商圈作为典型案例。通过实地考察、历史脉络讲解、运营模式剖析与空间设计解读，引导学生系统认识和理解都市商业景观的历史演进、消费文化变迁、运营挑战与活态更新策略，构建对中国当代大都市商业景观的多维度认知与思辨。

The Shanghai module of the study tour focuses on three core themes in contemporary urban commercial landscapes: traditional commercial streets, modern commercial landmarks, and integrated commercial spaces that blend old and new elements. It selects three representative cases—the Yuyuan Garden–City God Temple Area, Nanjing Road Commercial District, and Xintiandi Commercial District.Through on-site fieldwork, historical context lectures, analyses of business operation models, and interpretations of spatial design, the program guides students to develop a holistic understanding of the historical evolution of urban commercial landscapes, shifts in consumer culture, current operational challenges, and renewal design strategies. It aims to foster a multi-dimensional, in-depth understanding of commercial landscapes in contemporary major Chinese cities.

南京| 古城历史地段考察研究

南京段教学研习以中山陵片区、夫子庙-老门东历史街区为核心考察场景，通过实地踏勘、历史格局解读、文旅发展脉络梳理与空间价值剖析，引导学生理解南京“山-水-城”一体的历史空间逻辑，感知传统商贸街区在当代文旅浪潮中的演进方式、多元更新策略和当代运营挑战，构建对古城历史景观与商贸传统的系统性认知与在地化设计思考。

The Nanjing module of the study tour takes the Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum Scenic Area and the Confucius Temple & Laomendong Historic District as its core field sites. Through on-site surveys, interpretations of historical spatial patterns, reviews of cultural tourism development contexts, and analyses of spatial values, the program guides students to understand Nanjing’s integrated “mountains-water-city” historical spatial logic, perceive the evolutionary paths, operational challenges, and renewal strategies of traditional commercial districts amid the contemporary cultural tourism boom, and ultimately build a systematic understanding and context-aware design reflection on the historic landscapes of this ancient capital city.

义乌 | 国际商贸枢纽与电商集镇考察研究

义乌部分的教学研习将围绕“全球小商品贸易枢纽”这一核心议题展开，聚焦专业市场、跨境物流与在地产业三大维度。考察地点包括义乌国际商贸城、全球数贸中心、“义新欧”中欧班列始发港、佛堂镇产业园区及宾王夜市，全面呈现商贸网络从线上线下、从源头生产到终端消费的完整链条。

The Yiwu section of the teaching and research program will focus on the core theme of “Global Small Commodity Trade Hub”, covering three dimensions: specialized markets, cross-border logistics, and local industries. The field study sites include Yiwu International Trade City, the Global Digital Trade Center, the starting port of the “Yixin'ou” China- Europe Railway Express, Fotang Town Industrial Park, and Binwang Night Market. These sites collectively demonstrate the complete commercial network, from online to offline operations and from source production to end consumption.

东阳-杭州 | 传统商贾文化与新兴商业景观研究

杭州段教学研习选取西湖、天目里两大典型场景展开深度考察教学。通过实地踏勘、山水格局解读、消费场景剖析与空间设计分析，引导学生理解西湖 “城湖共生” 的千年景观营造逻辑，感知天目里新兴消费模式与当代城市生活样态的互动演绎，认识杭州从传统山水景观到当代消费地标、从公共游憩空间到多元文化场景的转型脉络，最终构建对杭州城市景观特质与消费文化变迁的系统性认知与在地化设计思考。

The Hangzhou module of the study tour features two representative sites for in-depth teaching and fieldwork: West Lake and the OōEli complex. Through on-site surveys, interpretations of the urban-landscape pattern, analyses of consumption scenarios, and evaluations of spatial design, the program guides students to understand the thousand-year landscape construction logic of West Lake’s “city-lake symbiosis”, perceive the interactive interpretation of emerging consumption models and contemporary urban lifestyles embodied in the OōEli complex, and recognize Hangzhou’s transformation from a traditional scenic landscape to a contemporary consumption landmark, and from a public recreational space to a diverse cultural venue. It aims to build a systematic understanding and context-aware design reflection on the characteristics of Hangzhou’s urban landscapes and the evolution of consumer culture.
